I came across this site today that discusses how to present bad news in business. I'm sure at some point we will all have to do this, but how? It's probably very hard to do and will require professionalism and tact. It talks about how to start the difficult conversation with a few sentences which are the buffer (almost like a break up-you know, "its not you, its me..") and the moving on to the following stages:
- Prepare yourself
- Gather facts
- Create an introduction
- Provide facts and proof about the bad news
- Closing, in a positive way.
