Is Discrimination in the Workplace Acceptable?

We all know the discrimination in the workplace is obviously unacceptable and not tolerated.  Or is it?  Recently, retail giant, Walmart successfully prevented a class action suit against it.  Walmart was being sued for discrimination against females and unfairly promoting policies and procedures that resulted in numerous discriminatory decisions over pay and promotions.  The court did not state whether or not Walmart had indeed committed violations against females, but stopped the suit in its tracks because the justices prevented them from proceeding as a class.  The business community was pleased with this decision, but labour and consumer groups opposed the courts’ decision.  Unfortunately, this case was pivotal and will be used as a precedent in similar future cases.  As a future employee of any corporation, I think it is worrisome that corporations as large as Walmart can "get off" under legal technicalities.  What are your thoughts fellow classmates?
