Companies believe that this mobile-filtering software will prevent liability if the site is used for illegal activity.

I believe it is good to monitor for illegal activities. However, there should be some kind of window to the outside world. Especially if there is an emergency. We are social beings, and when work gets too frustrating or stressful, we could need a little support and contact from the outside world. As long as it does not take too much time away from work. That is the part that the boss should not be able to intervene with.
